Arsenal Media and Christie Digital are bringing a little magic to the digital signage industry’s biggest trade show next month, turning on an experiential marketing BuzzWall at Digital Signage Expo that celebrates the partnership between Sun Life Financial and Cirque du Soleil .

The 15 by 10 foot multimedia “BuzzWall”, created for Sun Life, as presenting sponsor of IRIS – A Journey Through the World of Cinema™, is a main focal point of Christie Digital Systems’ exhibit hall booth at the March 7-8 trade show in Las Vegas. The multimedia wall features a cluster of 24 Christie® MicroTiles® digital display, and blends branded print graphics, 3-D augmented reality, gesture-based content, mobile apps and music.

Developed to support Sun Life’s brand and campaign marketing strategies, this digital wall is installed in the grand lobby of LA’s Hollywood & Highland Center (formerly known as the Kodak Theatre), the permanent home of IRIS.

Trade show attendees visiting Christie’s booth will be able to use gestures to interact with soundtrack music and scene-inspired content, and visuals produced by Arsenal Media in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil . They can launch a mobile app that presents a 3-D augmented reality experience with visuals on iPhones and iPads, or engage with a branded content zone that focuses on promoting Sun Life products and services.

 “It was a privilege to collaborate with Sun Life and Cirque du Soleil on this project, and we’re particularly happy that arrangements came together to bring it to this trade show,” says Denys Lavigne, president and founder of Arsenal Media. “This project explored new territory - how Sun Life could showcase its brand in a digital installation and how it could also create an engaging interactive experience as a presenting partner of the show.”

The Sun Life BuzzWall project is a finalist for the best event venue installation of the past year in Digital Signage Expo’s annual Apex Awards, to be announced March 7th at a Las Vegas awards dinner held at Caesars Palace. Arsenal’s work is short-listed for awards in six project and creative categories.

Lavigne’s Montreal-based team developed a 3-D augmented reality experience for the Sun Life-sponsored show that encourages show-goers to download a custom mobile Apple iOS app, and then scan a graphic designed into the interactive wall. Those scans activate an exclusive 3-D viewing experience, featuring characters and décor elements of the show.

A motion sensor mounted above the interactive wall captures gestures and movements of onlookers and then incorporates them, in real-time, with visual elements, soundtrack music and scenes from the show running on the vivid 32-square-foot block of MicroTiles.

Arsenal handled the concept, creative development, programming and app store integration, and worked closely with Christie Digital and its Christie Managed Services division on the original installation and launch in 2011.

In collaboration with Christie, Arsenal actively markets these immersive “BuzzWalls” as a new way to define and deliver digital experiences in public spaces such as theater lobbies, sports venues, and retail shops. “We believe this new type of digital destination concept is a powerful way to connect fans with brands,” says Lavigne.

The BuzzWall will be operating at the Digital Signage Expo trade show floor March 7-8 at the Christie Digital booth (#1051) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
